Ear Training: How to Hear Chords, Intervals and Scales
In today’s lesson, I am going to teach you about the essentials of ear training. Specifically, we will be discussing how to hear chords, intervals and scales. There is a little bit of music theory behind these, but it is pretty easy to understand. You should learn to hear the difference between major, natural minor, and harmonic minor scales. In terms of chords, you should learn the hear major, minor, diminished, augmented and 7th chords. Intervals are the distances between notes, which are designated by number, so you want to be able to hear the difference between 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. up to octave.
