The original Scream trilogy was a franchise that was moving along like a freight-train due to its overwhelming success. With a rushed production, it comes as no surprise that some interesting things were going on behind the scenes. That being said, let’s take a look at some things you didn’t know about Scream 3.

#1: Director Wes Craven filmed three different endings for the film and didn’t tell any of the cast members which one he was going to use.

#2: Creatives were toying with the idea of bringing Randy Meeks back for the third film -- surviving the brutal stabbings from the second film. The story was that his family rescued him and kept it a secret. Eventually, this was deemed too unrealistic, go figure, and the idea was cut.

#3: Matthew Lillard’s character, Stu, from the original film was originally going to return for Scream 3. Apparently, he would have survived the original film, gone to prison, and served as a mentor to other Ghostface copycats that would carry out attacks on high school students - with the ultimate prize being to kill Sidney Prescott.

The studio however, totally pussed out because the Columbine High School shooting had recently taken place, and they didn’t want the film to be associated with violence in a high school setting. Nice going, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

#4: Stone Cold Steve Austin, yes, the wrestler, was originally considered for Patrick Warburton’s role - Jennifer Jolie’s bodyguard ...wonder if that’s why his name was “Steven Stone”

#5: This is the first film in the series where there’s only one killer. However, originally, Angelina Tyler was going to be a second killer. It would be explained that she was Roman’s girlfriend, and an ex-classmate of Sidney.

#6: Christopher Walken was considered for the role of John Milton.

#7: Liev Schreiber insisted that his character remove his jacket because Schreiber had been working out a lot recently and wanted to show off his muscles.

#8: Due to the events going on in the world, *ahem* Columbine*, the studio didn’t want ANY blood in the film and didn’t even want it to be a horror film at all. Thankfully, Director Wes Craven stepped in and said “Be serious, guys. Either we make a Scream movie or we call it something else.”

#9: Neve Campbell was reluctant to come back for the film because she didn’t want to be typecast, so she was only on-set for 20-days. Writer of the series, Kevin Williamson, said that he had three different ideas as to where the story could go. One of those ideas didn’t include Neve Campbell’s character whatsoever -- with Williamson saying that the bottom line is that the story itself doesn’t rely so much on her character.

#10: Three months after completing principal photography on the film, the ending was refilmed because it was deemed to be an inadequate conclusion.

And that concludes our list of things you didn’t know about Scream 3. Was this an inadequate conclusion? Did you find out something you didn’t know?
