AGHUNATO GHS FACES SEVERE TEACHER SHORTAGE: 120 STUDENTS, ONLY 5 POST GRADUATE TEACHERS

Government Higher Secondary School, Aghunato, established in 1963, continues to be a vital educational institution despite being in a remote area. The school faces a significant teacher shortage, especially in English, following retirements and promotions. Currently, there is no dedicated English teacher, and the school only has five Post Graduate Teachers for over 120 higher secondary students. EAC Kathyinla, after learning about the issue, voluntarily stepped in to teach English to HSLC students. The school has made efforts to resolve the teacher shortage, including formal requests to authorities and civil organizations.
In addition to staffing challenges, the school also struggles with outdated infrastructure and limited resources. However, it embraces technology with the SMILE app to monitor teacher attendance and has a functional solar power system. The school places emphasis on co-curricular activities, with students participating in upcoming sports events and excelling in academics despite the challenges.
The school is striving to become a center of excellence, nurturing both academic and extracurricular talents, with the goal of providing a well-rounded education to its students.
