Our team used p5js library to create a web based generative art work that is illustrating barriers in African-European flyway. The name of the project is ATGMI. ATGMI stands for „Are They Gonna Make It?”, and also a reference to the popular acronym in the NFT world, WAGMI („We're All Gonna Make It”).
ATGMI is a generative artwork designed to draw attention and create discussion about the fact that every year hundred millions of migratory birds die due to human-related threats. One of these dangers are the cornerstones of modern technology, power lines. We can't live without them (at least for a few more years), and changes in the designs are already ongoing, but the progress might not be fast enough.

At least hundred millions of birds die from power lines each year, and a huge number of them are migratory birds. The photo by Tamás Lovizer that is used as background picture is a perfect example of the kind of power line that is extremely dangerous for animals. From the left side a number of „birds” arrive in random positions, full of colors, they are healthy. Just part of population are alive after crossing the powerline in the middle.

Regarding the current, unsustainable situation of the crypto market and the global warming, we chose Tezos as the minting blockchain for ATGMI. It's an open-source Proof of Stake network, consuming around two million times less energy than Proof of Work, like Bitcoin or Ethereum. This way we can stay true to the message, consuming as little energy as we can with minting, creating a Clean NFT. Also Tezos-native marketplace fxhash.xyz rapidly gains popularity among generative art market and allows to mint collections using transaction hash as input for individual pieces in the series. Code is ready to be published on this platform.

Half of income from the project is decided to share with NGOs that are working with issues of migratory birds.

The question stays with us and will be even more relevant in the future.
