#OnThisDay In 1929, architect, educator and social justice activist Robert T. Coles is born. The Buffalo native was a trailblazer in the architectural world. Coles was the first Black chancellor of the American Institutes of Architects, as well as owning the first Black owned architecture firm in the northeast.

Coles designed many municipal buldings including the Lindbergh Center in Atlanta, John F. Kennedy Recreation Center in Buffalo and the Frank D. Reeves Center of Municipal Affairs, which is pictured above.
