Fear of failure, fear of loss, fear of the unknown, fear of death, fear of the sound of a starting pistol at the race track. These are just some of the reasons that Garry ran away from his fears, as fast as he could and for as long as he could remember. A sudden chance, a twist of fate brought him from DC to rural Nebraska at which point his life pivoted, reframed, and he started to run towards his fears. Running to catch the plane, running for his college, breaking records, and breaking through the cycle of fear that had trapped and him and petrified him into inaction. In this dynamic mixture of spoken word and rhythmic prose, Gerry takes you along with him, and while this is his journey to reframe fear and embrace challenge and risk, this is a journey familiar to many of us. Time to reframe the fear to a challenge statement, and embrace it. With over 12 years in economic development, Garry Clark is the Executive Director at the Greater Fremont Development Council (GFDC), the Vice President of the National Rural Economic Developers Association, and was the Northeast Development Network Chair in 2015. In 2018 he received the Midland Business Journal’s 40 under 40 award for his aggressive workforce housing efforts in Fremont, Nebraska. He received his BA in Sociology from Dana College, Blair, N.E. and his Master of Science in Urban Studies/Public Administration from the University of Nebraska Omaha. At Dana College, he was inducted into the Dana College Hall of Fame for Track and Field in 2010, where he held 11 records and was Dana’s first male National Champion.
