Light is weird.

Light is much more complicated that what we make it out to be - not truly a wave, nor truly a particle. But, its this exact duality, the particle-wave duality, that helps us to construct models to better understand how light, or waves in general propagate throughout space. This is not to say that its comfortable however, since we have to abandon our classical intuitions on how light would move (if it behaves as a classical particle).

This video serves to introduce the Huygens-Fresnel Principle to better understand the wave nature of light, and in fact posit that waves move as a consequence of other "mini" waves, called wavelets. Its this exact principle (or model) which helps us to understand an otherwise unintuitive wave phenomenon - diffraction.
