MH4U session:The problem with wystones

Apologies for the long pause between videos, i picked up a part time job to earn extra Christmas monies for the children of the family, and I realize that I'm not as young as I used to be.
As for the hunt. Today's target is an Apex tigrex. Apex monster are those that had overcome the frenzy virus, and as such, have much larger health pools, hit harder, and have stronger skin. That last detail is the most important. Without the Force wystone, all attack that hit any area other than the main weakpoints will bounce, even if Mind's Eye is active. For weapons capable of hard hitting and/or rapid precise strikes this isn't to much of a problem. Outside a few moves, LS is not one of those weapons.
This is where things fall apart for the average player in MH4U endgame. Apex monsters was a mechanic meant for multiplayer, and that isn't a problem on it's own. It is a problem for the solo player. Apex, like frenzy, is a DPS check, and some weapons will struggle to get past that gate. The two most important wystones have the shortest duration and the longest cooldown, so if you don't do enough damage while they are active, well the result is what you see in the video. To make matters worse, while a monster is in the Apex frenzy state all status and elemental damage is completely nullified unless you use the appropriate wystone. But since that's on a time limit, it is punishing to weapons that rely on elemental damage. So most will just stick with the one that ups physical damage, which is something the LS doesn't really have outside two craftable swords and blessed relic swords. And the two craftable ones are from Gogmazios and Dalamdur.
Pain.
