Rising Afro-Tech talent AMÉMÉ returns with an explosive new remix of Michel Cleis & Totó la Mamposina’s ‘La Mezcla’, out June 23rd on Altra Moda Music.

Following AMÉMÉ’s recent hit singles ‘Kaleta’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘Batonga’, the Benin-born producer follows up with a vibrant reimagining of Michel Cleis & Totó la Mamposina’s classic 2009 hit ‘La Mezcla’. Beefing up the groove with added drops and intricate percussion layers, AMÉMÉ puts his own stamp on this tech house favourite.

“‘La Mezcla’ is a legendary track with infectious vocals”, says AMÉMÉ about the original. “When I first moved to New York, one of my best friends introduced me to the record, and I immediately started looking into Michel Cleis’ catalog. I quickly became a big fan and often play his records, like ‘Mir a Nero’. Fast forward to last summer, my manager, Jazz, introduced me to him at Circo Loco in Ibiza. We exchanged hugs, and both complimented each other on our music, and it wasn’t long into the conversation before we knew we had to collaborate. The stems were in my inbox for ‘La Mezcla’ the next day. My natural sound is dynamic, and I wanted to create a version that matched that. My reimagined version tells more of a fiery story, with explosive drops, flares of strong kicks, more grooves, and although the record was already percussive, I added in even more drums.”

West African native AMÉMÉ channels his cultural roots and ancestry into everything he does. Born and raised in Benin, AMÉMÉ (Hubert Sodogandji) helms One Tribe, a global community and brand identity centered on unity and good vibes. His visionary capabilities and unwavering dedication have been the catalyst behind the rapid growth and proliferation of both his musical endeavors and One Tribe as a whole.

Following his Coachella Festival performance on the Heineken House stage last month, AMÉMÉ has a busy summer ahead with a number of bookings at some of the biggest and unique festivals and nightspots including Splash House Festival (Palm Springs), Eclectic Forest (Michigan), Tomorrowland (Belgium), Lightning In A Bottle (Central Valley, CA), OffSónar (Barcelona), Electric Castle (Romania), HARD Summer LA (Los Angeles), and Paradise at Amnesia (Ibiza), just to name a few.

Following up on the success of his last EP Power as well as his recent run of hit singles, which have established AMÉMÉ’s position at the forefront of the Afro-house revolution, the New York based artist continues to evolve his sound in 2023 with this fiery ‘La Mezcla’ remix.
