Igreja NS Assunçāo, Cabo Frio - track 1

A atual igreja matriz de Cabo Frio começou a ser construída por volta de 1663. O interior da igreja foi restaurado em 1960 sob a direção de Adail Bento Costa. O retábulo da capela-mor, esculpido nessa época pelo português Manoel Bessa, exibe a imagem de madeira de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, trazida de Portugal no início do século XVII, aquando da fundação de Cabo Frio.

The church of Cabo Frio began to be built by the 1663. The interior of the church was restored in 1960 under the direction of Adail Bento Costa. The retabulo da capela-mor, sculpted in the Portuguese period by Manoel Bessa, exhibits the wooden image of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, drawn from Portugal in the beginning of the 17th century, when Cabo Frio was founded.
