To us, “Saturday Love” always sounded like a series of mistakes. But the biggest “mistake” was that we only wrote one verse for the song.

Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal are singing the exact same lyrics in their verses. We always intended on writing a second verse, but Cherrelle finished her vocal so quickly that we hadn’t written anything for Alexander O’Neal. We were on a deadline to finish so we just gave him the Cherrelle lyrics and let him do his thing 🤷🏾‍♂️

We never thought this song would become a timeless smash. When we listen to the song now, all we hear is the outpouring of love, admiration and affection you as fans have always had for the song. We’ve always tried to make music that makes you feel good. The way you appreciate it allows us to appreciate it too (mistakes and all.)
