Redemption | Darrell Roberts | 2023 Mule Deer

Big deer have a way of hiding. While scouting 2 days before the hunt we watched the early morning sun warm up a big muley. As he danced around his does we could only think one thing, Hopefully we can catch him out in the open when the hunt is on.

Fast forward to day 2 of the hunt, we were in the right spot at the right time. As we glassed the flats early in the morning we spotted some deer on a hill side 700 yards away. After watching them move up the from the base of the hill, there he was, the big typical buck we had seen a few days ago. Darrell got the spotter on him and said, “Let’s take him!”

We moved into position and unfortunately “buck fever” got the best of Darrell.

We spent the next 3 days going from high point to high point in the area. Looking up deer after deer but no luck turning up the big buck again.

With time winding down on the hunt, we got word of another big bucks location. We got sent pictures and knew if we could turn him up, Darrell would tag him!

As luck would have it, we were coming off of a ridge and spotted some deer in the flat. As we got eyes on them Darrell said, “Wow! Is that him? Let’s take him!”

Congratulations to Darrell on his trophy and a hunt of a lifetime!
