why it's TOXIC to see influencers as role models
the moral of the story... mind ya business and check yourself before you start trying to be the influencer police.
in this video, i discuss how a phenomenon of fangirls and looking heavily into influencers lives has created a toxic world of judgment, hate and hypocrisy. influencers are not only expected to be perfect with looks but also in the way they act, not ever make mistakes, be an activist, whilst be "relatable" to their fans.
not only does this create huge anxiety to the influencers themselves but also people who see this high standard and believe they essentially have to be "less human" in order to be appreciated.
this isn't me trying to ignore bigger issues surrounding influencers such as racism but instead to highlight how the focus on petty cases actually distracts us from the bigger issues at hand. it's so important to show love to everyone and understand that everyone makes mistakes regardless of their influence and shouldn't be judged anymore because of it :)
