City Street Photography at Night - Bad Weather but Great Conditions.

Join me on a rainy night in Manchester’s famous Curry Mile in Rusholme, where the streets come alive with reflections, neon lights, and nonstop energy.

Armed with just a 50mm lens and my Canon R6 Mark II, I head out after dark to capture everything from fruit stalls and late-night shops to cyclists, buses, and passing cars. The heavy rain turns the streets into a perfect playground for night photography.

Along the way, I share simple tips for shooting in low light, making the most of reflections, and pushing handheld shots—even experimenting with long exposures without a tripod.

I also stop off at The Ford Madox Brown (Wetherspoons) for a quick drink and a chat about the realities of night street photography.
