Hole Saw Trick (Making Holes Larger)

Reboring (or redrilling) larger holes with a hole saw can be very difficult. This simple trick will show you how to make holes larger with a hole saw bit quickly and easily!

("Hole saws" are bits used in drills to cut circles. Hole saw bits come in a variety of sizes. But, once a hole has been drilled, a hole saw bit is typically ineffective at making it larger without a guide.)

Tools:
1/2" Drill
Hole Saw Bit

Materials:
1/8" scrap plywood
short trim nails

How-To:
1) Match the size of hole saw bit that you need to fit your new hardware (in this case, door knob)
2) Use that hole saw bit to cut out a circle from 1/8" plywood
3) Tack the new circle concentrically over the old hole with a couple small trim nails or brads
4) Using the new circle as a guide to get a new hole cut started
5) Consider finishing cut from the other side
