Jonny Bairstow smashes T10 World Record with 84 as Kerala Kings beat Bengal Tigers
English batsman Jonny Bairstow, fresh from his team’s Sri Lanka tour, smashed a new T10 World Record of 84 not out off 24 balls and guided Kerala Knights to win against Bengal Tigers with seven wickets and eight balls to spare, breaking the earlier record of 74 by Mohamed Shahzad on the first day of the T10 League.

Jonny Bairstow told the media at the post-match conference that he enjoys playing in this format. “I like playing all formats, especially the T20 matches. However, here you have fewer​ balls to play, so every ball is important and you can’t afford to allow dot balls. Then you need to make up by hitting sixes to catch up,” he said.

His 84 off 24 balls were fired up with eight sixes and six boundaries – 72 without having to physically run when chasing a modest target of 123 for 5 set by Bengal Tigers. He was supported by Chris Gayle’s 19.
