Lip feed this! Young lace monitors are terrified of everything and usually go through a phase as seen here. Satan (whose name has nothing to do with its attitude) remained completely hidden for many months and has only recently started taking food from forceps. Now it is caught between being terrified of me and associating me with food. It will eventually settle down entirely of its own accord, through simple desensitisation over a long period of time. I know from experience that any attempt at handling will only make matters worse, so it's just a matter of time and patience. Whenever I am selling one of the tiger-striped phase lace monitors that I breed (this Bells phase was bred by someone else), someone invariably asks me "how does it handle?", to which my reply is "like a young lace monitor - terribly".
