Air Separation, Dirt Separation, and Hydraulic Separation in Hydronic Systems.

Guest speaker Mark Olson, Caleffi General Manager, describes the three arguably most problematic issues with hydronics systems. The primary sources of air and dirt formation is discussed as well as the various methods used to prevent and rid systems of air and dirt. A quick review of water quality and its effect on scale formation and corrosion is addressed. Lastly the causes of pump conflict is reviewed as well as the various piping methods available to the designer to prevent it and keep circulators working at optimal levels.
