By the Sea is a 2015 American romantic drama film written and directed by Angelina Jolie Pitt, and produced by and starring Jolie Pitt and her husband Brad Pitt. The film was released on November 13, 2015, by Universal Pictures.

Set in mid-1970s France, former dancer Vanessa and her husband, American writer Roland, travel the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner.
