Global Future Cities Programme Turkey

The Global Future Cities Programme is a technical support programme run by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), in order to support sustainable urban growth and global prosperity. Contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, the programme is run in strategic partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). It aims to increase inclusive economic growth, reduce poverty and gender inequality through sustainable growth.

The purpose of the Programme is to conduct projects on transportation, urban planning, and urban resilience and provide technical support to local governments in 19 focus cities in 10 countries. The Turkey Programme consists of five projects, which are carried out in Ankara, Bursa, and Istanbul in cooperation with local governments. Arup is the Delivery Partner conducting these projects in partnership with three metropolitan municipalities and one district municipality in Turkey.
