Why Do We Bash Americans?

For as long as I can remember, my British compatriots (not all, to be fair) have had a tendency to bash Americans. As a Brit married to an American and one who has long held a fascination with the country and its people, I could never quite put my finger on this particular brand of prejudice. Here are my thoughts.
