DIY-How To Replace a Timing belt, Power Steering, AC + Alternator Belt on Hyundai Elantra (KIA)

Does you car have 90,000 miles on it. Well it’s then time to change the Timing Belt. You want to do this at the recommended intervals regardless if its needed or not. You can remove the upper timing belt cover and see if the condition of the belt, but you cannot verify the condition of the tensioner and idler pully. So play it safe and change them out.

The timing belt is replaced so that you can prevent the belt from breaking and then causing a catastrophic engine failure where the pistons will collide with the valves and things will break and get jammed, essentially turning your engine into junk. This is cheap insurance compared to what can happen.

This is also a great time to go and replace all the other belts since they will need to come off. These would be the alternator, power steering and the AC belt.

This video will show how do all of this. This video uses a 2005 Hyundai Elantra GT to demonstrate this procedure.
