Over the next two decades, thousands of letters poured into mailboxes across town, tormenting police officers, teachers, and even local government officials.

One school bus driver, Mary Gillespie, was harassed relentlessly. Her brother-in-law, Paul Freshour, was arrested after a booby trap rigged to a signpost was traced back to him. He was convicted of attempted murder. But while he sat in prison… the letters kept coming.
