(4k) Summer evening walk along the waterfront in Taupo, New Zealand. From January 7, 2022. Between 5pm and 6pm. Captured using my DJI Pocket 2. Since Splash Planet was closed due to COVID for the first summer since in a long time, I decided to spend time in Taupo since the weather luckily was forecast to be great. A well deserved summer for us.

Stayed 1 night at The Millennium Resort in Taupo. My room option was Lake View room with a queen bed. Step out through the glass ranch door and you're immediately on the waterfront, with a grass patch area. How good as that! Nature lovers will enjoy walking, cycling, or scootering along the waterfront walk way.

Checked in January 7 from my drive from Auckland, checking out January 8 and not leaving Taupo until just after 3pm (cause Taupo is awesome), for my 5 hour road trip back to Wellington. Taupo is a great place to spend the night to break up the long road trip between Wellington and Auckland.

It takes 5 hours to drive from Wellington to Taupo, unless you're one of those drivers who illegally drives 20km/hr above the speed limit, especially in the multiple seemingly empty road works (still unfinished Transmission Gully) in the outer Wellington region. It takes only 3 hours with less distance, between Taupo and Auckland, with less road works sites.

Taupo has crystal clear water large main lake, Huka Falls, and good beaches near the CBD. Plus many other attractions for those on holiday.
