First, the etiology of acute pancreatitis must be understood in order to initiate causal therapy. Independently of this, symptomatic therapy must follow the principles of a step-up approach in order to monitor patients correctly and to treat them initially conservatively but, as the disease progresses, also interventionally or surgically and not to miss the expansion of therapy.
