The easiest way to fix a bouncy cable driven speedometer explained, and shown here. The alternative is removing the entire dash in the case of this Chevelle (ugh) to gain access, and replace or repair the speedometer head. It doesn't always work, but it did on this one, and hopefully you have success too!
