Its population, which was 83,444 in 1990, was determined as 55,548 in the last census. Its surface area is 5 km. It consists of 33 neighborhoods in total.

Eminönü district, together with Sirkeci, constitutes an important part of the harbor, which has existed since the city was founded, at the entrance of the Golden Horn of Istanbul. This district, which is the center of one of the most important ports in the world as well as being an important focus of city life, is the coastline that starts from the Eminönü Campus of Istanbul Commerce University on the Unkapanı road and continues with the building of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and extends to Sirkeci. and the market area just behind it.
