I'm not sure about the "I wonder if this is chess, I think I've got the gist of it but might be missing a little" also I don't usually mess with subtitle colours but needed to differentiate between who was talking, if the red-white screws with anyone's eyes let me know and I'll try to avoid that colour combination in the future.
