Module 5 SAC CANVAS clarification

a clarification on module 5 in regards to America being a Christian nation. When I am speaking of this I am investigating sociologically the institutions of society, and how they affect our everyday interactions with each other, ourselves, and the society. Christian premises, and ideals, have been embedded in our society, at a systemic level, and so they are invisible. Similar to systemic racism in American society, systemic Christian understandings, and worldview, are accepted, and go unseen.

I forgot to mention this, so I might need to make another video, but Max Weber investigated how capitalism took hold in the west, and came to the conclusion that the protestant work ethic led to the success of capitalism. Hold on, let me explain. Weber saw the the protestant worldview was embedded in existential tension, as the belief in predestination was espoused. In order to prove to themselves that they were on God's 'good list', they decided that success in business was the sign needed to prove that God had predestined them for heaven. This combined with rules against gluttony, or excessive spending, and not giving money to beggars, led to the rooting of capitalism in the west. So, even though the social system didn't want to have religion embedded into the society, it nonetheless did.

Just to be very clear, sociology has many different ways of looking at society, and each of those is called a perspective. No one perspective is right and true, they are all just different ways of viewing the social reality. If you disagree with me, and looking at society through the sociological lens, you don't actually disagree with me, you disagree with sociology as a whole. Which is fine, you can do that. But you should probably stop watching my sociology videos, which are clearly defined with the white background custom thumbnail.
