INSANE Rules that Royal Children Must Follow

Every household has their own set of rules and regulations that their children must follow. Whether it be making the bed first thing in the morning, or putting the recycling in the correct containers, so it makes sense that royal children have their set of rules too. And while we are aware that there are many royal children from across the globe, there is not too much information available about the rules they need to follow in their own home.

Rule Number 11

When it comes to education, royal children have to finish University, whether they want to or not. They usually get private tutoring from home when they’re very young, and then go to nursery school when they’re 2.5-years old. Prince William and Prince Harry were the first royals to attend a proper nursery school. Both boys attended boarding school full time from the age of 8, which could be the route Prince George will take too. It’s also likely Prince George will attend Eton, like his dad and uncle did.

Rule Number 10

As the saying goes, rules are made to be broken, and it’s been the rule for forever that family holidays are always spent with the royal grandparents and is a purely royal affair. Kate Middleton managed to bend this rule, and one Christmas was spent with her family. It was also broken by Prince Harry, who invited Meghan Markle to celebrate a Christmas with the royal family.

Rule Number 9

It’s not such a strange rule, because many people around the world have this tradition. The royal family do not open Christmas presents on Christmas day, and follow the German tradition of opening on Christmas eve.

Rule Number 8

Little girls love painting their nails all sorts of bright colours, but if you’re royalty, you don’t have that luxury. Bright, sparkly, glittery nail polish may not be worn at all. Royal women always have to keep their nails neutral and neat.

Rule Number 7

The royal children always send greeting cards to thank people for the gifts they’ve been given. Of course, with the huge number of gifts, they’d end up spending all day writing the cards, so they do have a team doing it for them. If the gift is extra-special, then the children do the letters themselves.

Rule Number 6

As is expected, security is ultra-important in the royal family. In 2017 there was an incident where a 40-year-old woman tried to break into Prince George’s school. She was arrested and fortunately he wasn’t there at the time. He goes to school every day with 2 body guards and the drivers take a different route to school every day.

Rule Number 5

Growing up as a royal child means absolutely no tantrums at the dinner table, no putting those elbows on the table, no slurping soup and eating everything that is put in front of you. Royal children are taught table manners from a young age and know which utensil should be used for what course, unlike most adults!

Rule Number 4

Children are never overlooked or left behind when it comes to big events. Weddings are attended by every royal child. The girls are bridesmaids and the boy’s pageboys. Weddings are a national event, and the children must ensure they are well behaved throughout the lengthy, sometimes boring, proceedings.
Rule Number 3

Posture is also instilled from a young age, and all royal children always have to stand up straight and may never have their hands in their pockets. There are a lot more rules for girls than boys, including never sitting with legs crossed – they need to be together and slanted to one side. They can have their ankles crossed if that’s more comfortable.

Rule Number 2

Footwear may not be a set rule, but the royal children seem to all wear similar shoes. Everyone knows the little leather buckled shoes that Prince George wore, and you might have noticed Princess Charlotte wore them too. No doubt Prince Louis will also a don a pair soon. Boys and girls wear the same shoes and they are made by an English brand called Start-Rite. This company received a Royal Warrant in 1955 stating they would be responsible for making shoes for the royal family. It’s believed the company have since made 1,500 pairs of shoes for royalty.
