Dark Souls 2: Ancient Dragon Boss Guide | EASY way to kill him (NG+++)

Welcome to Dark Souls 2!

ATTENTION: All my Dark Souls 2 videos are for helping purposes and learning where to find certain items. I do not in any way claim to be good at this game, nor do I think I'm very good. So please steer clear of pointing out flaws in my combat.

This is a boss guide on how to defeat the Ancient Dragon in Dark Souls II.

Area: Dragon Shrine.
Location: At the top of the stairs.

Ancient Dragon move set (move names from the Dark Souls 2 wikidot, link below):

● Stomp: The Ancient Dragon will stomp the ground if you're too close to his leg. This is one of the absolute best attacks he could possibly do. Roll to dodge.

● Firebreath: The Ancient Dragon will breath fire in front of him while on the ground. Mostly used if you're in front of him. This one can be baited, but avoiding his Aerial Firebreath attack becomes much harder, which is his most devastating attack.

● Aerial Firebreath: The Ancient Dragon will spread it's wings and fly up in the air to breath fire down on the ground. Has a massive range and a sure death if you gets hit.

However, the attack is very easily telegraphed. If he spreads his wings, run towards either the left or the right side of his tail. It you're directly underneath or too close to the tail when he lands, you will get hit by his tail and most likely die. Don't stop running towards his tail until he's about the land.

● Bite: The Ancient Dragon will bite at you. Triggered by standing in front of him and can be telegraphed by looking for him lifting his head up slightly to the side.

● Self Immolation: The Ancient Dragon will light it's underbelly on fire. Triggered by standing near his front while underneath him.

NOTE: This attack might be the same as the attack he did in the video, where he stands up on his back legs and breath fire underneath him. I wouldn't try to hit his legs when he's using this attack though. It looks like the fire will hit you, but if anyone can confirm, that would be hugely appreciated.

To dodge this attack, run out to his side and use this time to heal, imbue weapons or use any other item you need.
