Monk seal release from fishing line, Zakynthos, Greece, August 2013
Archelon volunteers were informed for a monk seal in Krioneri Zakynthos, just 1 kilometer north from Zakynthos port. She was very close to the shore and taking breaths all the time.
A closer look revealed a fishing hook attached to the young seals's mouth. We managed to cut the line, releasing the seal who disappeared in half a second...
