Bulgarian Split Squats with BFR | 5 Months Post ACL Meniscus Rehab Surgery

Five months after ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair, this college basketball athlete is entering early Phase 3 of her rehab journey. That means it’s time to level up her exercises.

We’re introducing Bulgarian split squats—also called rear-foot elevated split squats—to increase the load and challenge her stability.

She’s using blood flow restriction (BFR) bands to up the intensity. This combination of BFR and high-rep, low-load training boosts the anabolic response and helps support tissue repair when it matters most.

⚠️ Important: You must be medically cleared before performing this exercise

Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based, not time-based.
