North Star Stories features the Constructive Dialogue Program with the Humphrey School

How do we engage with people when we know we won’t agree? At the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, a new program is tackling that question head-on.

🎓 The Constructive Dialogue Orientation workshops are designed to equip graduate students with the skills to:

Listen across political and cultural differences

Build trust in difficult conversations

Engage respectfully without fear of retaliation or “canceling”

Practice civic dialogue as a leadership skill

This story, featured on PRX’s North Star Stories, highlights how Danger Boat Productions and the Humphrey School are helping future leaders navigate polarization in Minnesota and beyond.

💬 As facilitator Tane Danger explains:

“It’s important for us to be able to have conversations and talk to each other even when we know we’re not going to agree… That’s actually valuable because we both have something to learn from each other.”
