‘The world didn’t end’: Why media hype surrounding El Nino is being challenged

The Australian Environment Editor Graham Lloyd discusses the official declaration of an El Nino event in Australia.

“There are other factors in play … which, to be fair, the Bureau of Met makes clear when it announces these things,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News host Steve Price.

“That’s not often what the media wants to portray. They’re saying this is a super event and be scared, but the truth is, the last one happened three years ago, and the world didn’t end.”
