‘Showing his true colours’: Albanese 'resists' France’s call to fight Hamas
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has shown his “true colours” after he showed more concern about humanitarian aid getting through to Gaza than fighting terrorists, says Sky News host Sharri Markson.
Mr Albanese’s remarks came after French President Emmanuel Macron visited Israel and declared France was ready to fight Hamas – also saying the fight against terror isn't just one for the Jewish people, but one for all of humanity.
Mr Albanese was asked about the French President’s commitment to Israel and whether Australia would join in France's call for a coalition of forces to fight Hamas.
“I continue to emphasise that Australia’s position is for the protection of innocent lives, we mourn as a nation every innocent life which has been lost in the conflict, whether it be Israeli or Palestinian,” Mr Albanese said.
Ms Markson questioned why Australia wouldn’t join the fight against Hamas even though it "proudly" joined the fight against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
“The only difference as far as I can see it is that the Hamas victims are Israelis, and Albanese has over his entire parliamentary career spoken out against Israel and in support of Palestinians.
“We're now seeing Albanese show his true colours. He could only stay on message for so long.”
