Wounded in War to NFL Super Bowl Champion | Rocky Bleier | Narration by Tim Allen

Robert Patrick Bleier was born in 1946 in the small town of Appleton, Wisconsin. The first of four children, his dad proudly boasted to anyone who would listen what a tough "little rock" the baby was. The name stuck, and Robert became 'Rocky'.

A 3x all-state running back in high school Rocky was offered a scholarship to Notre Dame, where he led the Fighting Irish to the National Championship in 1966. In 1968, Rocky would be selected in the 16th round of the NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Another draft in 1968 took him from the football fields of America to the battlefields of Vietnam. While on patrol in Hiep Duc, Bleier was severely wounded by rifle fire and an enemy grenade. Doctors told him his days playing football were over, but Rocky Bleier had a different plan.

He began a strict regimen of rehabilitation and working out and slowly built back his body. The embodiment of determination, Rocky rejoined the Pittsburgh Steelers and would go on to win four Super Bowls with the team throughout the 1970s.
