"April in Paris" - Ed Saindon Solo Vibraphone

A solo vibraphone performance of this classic song. Utilizing dampening techniques in this piece as covered in the new book "Pedaling and Dampening Applications for the Vibraphone. Some of the techniques in here include selective dampening, deadstrokes and slide dampening. I think dampening on the vibraphone is one of the areas of playing the vibraphone that has so much untapped potential and is generally underutilized. It can be used for not only playing counterpoint with clarity, executing a melody and lines over accompaniment and inner line movement with voicings but also for enhanced phrasing, expression, variety of articulation and for increasing the overall range of sound with the vibraphone.
