4G63 Junkyard Score!!! Take 2

I found a 4g63 in the junkyard! Got this turbo engine and transmission from the salvage yard on the 4th of July!

Stuff I need for production! http://a.co/iM4PGFF https://www.instagram.com/velocity_labs/ http://velocity-labs.spreadshirt.com/ http://www.velocity-laboratories.com/ http://www.facebook.com/velocitylabs http://www.patreon.com/velocitylabs

i pulled a 6-bolt 4g63t out of the the junkyard that i'm going to be using as a rebuild or spare engine for my mitsubishi eclipse. the 4g63 is legendary for its high horsepower capability in evos, dsms, evo 8 and 9, etc. found in the eclipse, talon and laser. i removed the engine with a hoist and loaded it on my trailer to take home. you have to pull all the axles, motor mounts, radiator, battery, and lots of other parts to make room to remove the motor. the entire wiring harness must be disconnected and moved. the downpipe and transfer case also have to be removed. i left the transmission attached and pulled it with the motor. this may also be used for an engine swap in the future.

Alright, remember a year and a half ago I found a perfect 1990 gsx 4g63 engine and transmission, pulled it in a blizzard, only to have it dropped and smashed

Well that guy promised to find me another one, and a year and a half later, he did! I got a phone call a couple days ago letting me know he found a 91 (I told him a 90 or 91 would work (and possibly a 92) and he finally got one in. He texted me this pic of the engine bay and said I could come listen to it turn over first.

So looking at this pic, right away I notice it’s got a 2g maf, and a 2g exhaust manifold. I got to listen to it turn over and it sounded fine, just wouldn’t start. So I’ll take it.

They drained all the fluids out and loaded it up into the premium lot so I wouldn’t be bothered. I gotta say, the U Pull and Pay here really did a fantastic job of making this right.

So I got to work disconnecting everything, I couldn’t film it because it’s LITERALLY the 4th of July and I have plans, so I gotta get this done quick. I did get a couple little bits though, like this. This is the drivers side axle, and neither of the bolts holding it in place were in all the way.

And we got it home! Safe and sound this time, I loaded it into my trailer myself, strapped it down precariously because I like to live dangerously, drove nice and slow and made it back. Also, all the mounts were upgraded poly mounts, so I made sure to take them all. I might be using those right away. The plan for this engine is to rebuild it stock with 2g pistons for a little bump in compression and keep it as a spare for when I blow mine up. I can’t use the 91 transmission on my 90 so I’m going to sell or trade that.

And I’m pretty hard up for car parts so if it comes down to it I may end up selling this motor to fund my current projects, either the Eclipse, Talon or Bug. Hopefully I can keep it though.

Oh, and not only was the U Pull and Pay super helpful, they also gave me a hefty discount on this setup, so a huge thank you to them again. I should have more videos coming soon, so stick around.
