Hurricane Beryl could pass Jamaica at similar intensity to Hurricane Gilbert/JBNN

Hurricane Beryl remains at Category 5 intensity as it continues to pummel towards Jamaica.

Head of Jamaica’s met service, Evan Thompson, says Beryl is a Category 5 hurricane but should weaken to Category 3 as it passes Jamaica, with similar wind speeds as 1988’s Hurricane Gilbert.
