WTH?!? 'What Billionaire Just Got Richer?': Trump Tariff Pause Sparks Insider Trading Suspicions

The timing of President Donald Trump's Truth Social post on Wednesday—urging Americans that it was a "great time to buy" stocks—followed closely by his surprise announcement of a three-month pause on tariffs, has sparked allegations of market manipulation and potential insider trading at the highest levels of government.

The S&P 500 surged to its biggest single-day gain since 2008 after Trump eased back on his tariff plan, which had rattled global markets in recent days. But at the time of his post, no public indication had been given that a tariff pause was coming.

During a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Steven Horsford (D-Nev.) grilled Trump trade representative Jamieson Greer over the timing of the decision, stating, “It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you and paused the tariffs—the taxes—on the American people.”

Horsford continued, “Is this market manipulation? If it's not, what is it? Who’s benefiting? What billionaire just got richer?”
