POV Skate Tutorial #1: How to OLLIE

This video will teach you how to Ollie in no time! I’m teaching you how to Ollie from your position of view.

The Ollie is the most fundamental skateboard trick out there. For almost any other flat ground trick you need it so make sure you learn this one the proper way.

For most tricks you got to be able to do some other tricks but since you’re learning the Ollie you don’t. It’s definitely the first skateboard trick you wanna learn. Although, I do recommend being able to ride around on a skateboard and just being comfortable on a skateboard in general.

How to Ollie on a skateboard foot-positioning(beginner):
So starting off with the foot-positioning: You want to place your feet just like I’m doing in the video, your front foot just beneath the bolts. I like to place it a little bit more towards the middle of my board, not too far but that just feels comfortable for me, some people like to place their front foot closer to the bolts. Play around with this, do whatever feels most comfortable for you. Place your backfoot on the tail like this and you got your foot positioning done. I’m goofy but if you’re regular you can do what I just said, just switch it up and it’ll look like the regular foot positioning in the video.

How to Ollie on a skateboard movement (practice these if you’re a beginner):
We’re taking a look at the movement itself, how does it work. So with any flatground tricks you wan to jump, you want to have some movement going up. Bend your legs and then straighten them. The movement which has to do with the skateboard itself starts at the moment you’re trying to push yourself off the ground, straightening your legs also known as jumping. So then step 1 follows: move the front part of your skateboard up by pulling your front foot up and pressing your tail against the ground, this is known as popping your board. Step 2: Leveling your board, slide your front foot up like I’m doing in the video, pull your back foot up as well this way your board has the same angle as the ground and you’re ready to land. Step 3 is the easiest which is just landing, just keep your balance when you go back down. Bend your knees when you hit the ground so the impact is spreads out over your body.

How to Ollie on a skateboard beginner things to think of as a beginner:
Remember that you wanna do these steps while jumping up, if you don’t you won’t go up, pretty simple. However it helps to practice these movements step by step slowly so you really know how to do it. You don’t wanna spend too much time on that though cause in skateboarding you learn more by actually doing it.

If you’re a beginner you probably want to learn how to Ollie on a skateboard standing still;
You can start learning these just standing still but I highly recommend to learn any trick with a little speed because that’s how you eventually wanna do them. You don’t have to go all luan oliveira about it, here I’m going pretty fast but that’s just because I wanna be cool.

Your very first ollies are probably going to look like this or even worse, but that’s alright cause practice makes perfect, don’t give up, the biggest amount of people that start skating and give up are the ones that think that they can’t learn to Ollie. They don’t have the patience for it, they don’t feel comfortable on a skateboard but any pro skater out there was once where you are, it just takes time and you have to be patience and from experience I can say that it’s worth and skateboarding is just so much fun.

Once you get your ollies down, you wanna start doing ‘em over stuff. That’s really fun about this trick, you know ollieng over stuff and onto stuff like no one can stop you. Just start with something little like a can. However, don’t be that random guy at the park that ruins other peoples cans cause he thinks he can Ollie.

Thanks for watching.
The idea behind these videos is that I’m teaching you skateboarding from your position of view.
