Incredible moment an impala baby confused a tower of giraffes for its parents

This is the heart-in-the-mouth moment a tiny new born impala got confused what species he was and tried to make friends with a tower of GIRAFFES.

As if thinking the long-legged giants might be his extended family the youngster – who was still barely able to stand – wandered over to them.

Not sure what to make of their unusual interloper the group of giraffes are initially curious and carefully try not to crush the baby with their enormous hooves.

But as this video shows eventually one of the giraffes appears to decide the best place for the impala baby is with his mother and stomps its feet to shoo him away.

Game ranger Theo York was with a group of guests in the MalaMala Game Reserve, in South Africa, and caught the bizarre scene on camera.

Luckily in the end the baby did return to its frazzled mother who led her wayward charge off into the bush.
