Today’s generation of eaters are the fattest the world has ever seen; there are now more obese people on the planet than undernourished. Is it really as simple as humans suddenly consuming much more fat than in the past? While the amount of fat we eat has stayed largely stable over the past few decades, scientists like Prof Michael Cowley and Prof Robert Lustig point out that sugar and processed carbohydrates are the main culprits for our recent obesity.
