Idaho man who bragged about being in pro-Trump U.S. Capitol riot speaks, hires Ruby Ridge lawyer

A Treasure Valley man who boasted online about storming the U.S. Capitol alongside a mob of Trump supporters was released from jail Wednesday afternoon.

Josiah Benjamin Colt, 34, was released ahead of his trial on the requirements that he follows restrictions including location monitoring, not possessing any guns or other weapons, and staying at least 1,000 feet away from both the Idaho Statehouse and the James A.McClure Federal Building, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Colt is charged federally with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

After his release Wednesday, Colt spoke with KTVB about the siege on the Capitol and apologized for his part in it.

"I didn't hurt anybody, didn't take anything, didn't break anything," he said. "My intention was just to go there to have my voice heard. I do love America. Like I said I apologize. I do not condone the violence that happened there. It is tragic, it breaks my heart about what that turned into."
