2nd order Linear Differential equation
To find a General solution or Complementary function of 2nd order linear differential equation:
First we find two linearly independent solutions.
Then we form complementary function by simply adding constant multiples of the two solutions.
The exponential function y=e^kx (where k is a constant) has a special property that its derivative is a constant multiple of itself. Substituting the value of 2nd derivatives and first derivatives of exponetial function in the 2nd order linear homogeneous differential equation we get auxiliary equation. Using roots of auxiliary equation we get general solution or Complemetary funtion.
