The Lehigh Gorge Special! (Featuring NKP #765 & RBMN #425)

On August 22nd, 2015, Norfolk Southern Corporation, in cooperation with the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad, operated the "Lehigh Gorge Special." An all day special steam excursion between Bethlehem and Pittston, Pennsylvania. Powering this excursion was Lima built Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 Berkshire type #765. The engine put on a fantastic show of steam, as she traveled through the Lehigh Valley. In additon to #765, another steam locomotive was seen operating on this day. Reading Blue Mountain & Northern 4-6-2 light pacific #425 was operating between Jim Thorpe, and Old Penn Haven, hauling excursions for the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. In this video, we will see both locomotives hauling passengers through the Lehigh Gorge, as well as a meet with both engines in Jim Thorpe.
