Previously in our series on the world of Tolkien, the world of the Lord of the Rings, we have talked about the First and Third ages of the Middle-Earth, covering the entire of the Third Age and the war of the ring (https://youtu.be/BmqKXTqXglM), the rise of Morgoth in the First Age (https://youtu.be/LFQ9RyGJ5uw) and his fall (https://youtu.be/ewrJVLdPx9k), as well as the economy and the societies of the Middle-Earth (https://youtu.be/B86jAx_gPPU). Our new season will describe the Second Age of the Tolkien's creation. In the first video, we saw how the humans, elves and dwarves tried to rebuilt in the aftermath of the War of the Wrath in the First Age and sinking of Beleriand (https://youtu.be/yzTZp_X1_Fo). In the second episode, we will see how Morgoth's lieutenant Sauron managed to replace him as the Dark lord by creating the Rings of Power and the One Ring to Rule them all (https://youtu.be/DDcd-SbjRr4). And while Sauron was gaining power, we will see how the proud island kingdom of Numenor was slowly getting corrupted through pride and avarice, and how Ar-Pharazôn came to power (https://youtu.be/D3thMx7DbMU). Sauron used the hubris and pride of the Numenoreans and when they took him hostage, he managed to corrupt them even further, leading to the Numenor's failed attempt to launch the invasion of Aman. In this episode we will discuss why and how Numenor was sunk by Eru Iluvatar.
