Bass Fishing ponds Early Summer using buzzbaits, Chatterbaits and Zoom Flukes
I was going to head out and fish in Murrells Inlet for Redfish and Flounder but with it being Memorial day weekend I decided to leave the Saltwater to the pleasure boaters.
I been wanting to bass fish some of the roadside ponds around Myrtle Beach, SC. I’m sure you have seen them as you drive and exit or enter the interstate Roadways. In South Carolina, you are allowed to fishing these small Roadside ponds as long as you have a valid SC fishing license.
I started fishing around 6.30am throwing a Strike King Buzz bait. I picked up my first fish on the buzz a 9 inch monster. My second fish came on a ZMan chatterbait running it along a ledge rom shallow to deeper water.
After a few hours and several small fish later I decided to make a move to another small pond across the road. The pond was very similar but I had no idea if there was any fish in the pond. My thought soon changed. I put on a weightless Baby Bass Zoom Fluke, pitched it up t the bank and BANG the fight was on. Not knowing what I had on the line It finally surfaced and revealed a 4 LB. largemouth Bass. My Personal Best (PB). The next cast, WAM!!! I hooked into a 2 ½ lb bass. What a day.
