Driver of the Dodge 4x4 tried to cross through what we call crab holes . There uneven areas of the beach that are like multiple deep pot holes in a road . What so often happens the holes are deep enough that a front tire will go in so deep that it will twist the truck enough that the opposite side of the trucks rear wheel will come off the ground or at least lift it enough that you have no traction . Contrary to popular belief most 4x4 trucks really only have one drive tire in front and one in the rear . Unless a truck has full lockers your screwed when you get in situations where you need all tires to bite .
We were lucky that second 4x4 was able to get his chain or strap off the Dodge . I have had to cut straps and at times remove the tow ball off good Samaritans trucks so we can pull them out . It is near impossible to flat tow out two trucks sucked into wet sand .
